St Austell has a train station, with services provide by Great Western Railway. Direct services to London Paddington take 4 hours 25 minutes. The same train line, but in the opposite direction, terminates at Penzance. This line covers major locations such as Plymouth, Exeter and Reading.

St Austell has a bus station which also acts as a coach terminus for the likes of National Express. There are a multitude of local bus routes, with some adjoining other neighbouring towns.
