Robert Goodwin donates safety vests to his former school

February 2012

Britannia Goodwins owner, Robert Goodwin has taken a trip down memory lane recently as he presented Head Teacher Nick Bickley of St Paul’s School, in Stafford, with high visibility safety vests for the pupils.

Robert attended St Paul’s School in Garden Street in the late 1950s, and now more than half a century later he was back to donate children’s high visibility vest to his former primary school,  with the aim of keeping the pupils safe while they are out on school outings or while going from the school to swimming lessons  etc.

Whilst there Robert was invited to sit in on the mornings assembly; and then had a tour of the school, which has changed dramatically since his time there.

Britannia Goodwin’s hot new ride!

October 2011

Robert Goodwin, shown in the adjacent photo, has just taken delivery of a brand new Mercedes LEZ compliant 7.5 ton truck, which is a welcome addition to their fleet of removal vehicles.

Britannia Goodwins Foreman Vincent Beardmore, as shown being handed the keys in the photo, will be maintaining and driving this ‘Rolls Royce of a truck’ for Britannia Goodwins, which is like a dream drive for any truck driver.

The new truck has a unique 3 container body which simply means it can carry three standard 250 cubic feet storage containers or loose loaded effects, with side loading access.

Britannia Goodwins moves Staffordshire County Council’s records & archives

September 2011

Britannia Goodwins removals of Staffordshire have recently carried out the moving of some 45 thousand file boxes and record books for Staffordshire County Council

The records and archives, some items over 100 years old, were moved from old buildings in Stafford town centre to a purpose built site in Staffordshire. Specially manufactured steps with a working platform were used by the Goodwins team to gain access to the 5 metre high moveable racking that had been installed in this new facility.

The Goodwins team worked for four weeks on the project, smoothly and efficiently with everything being placed correctly and safely in its new position. Project manager, Catherine Lantsbery said, “We are pleased with the efficient and easy way in which Goodwins completed the move. It was important that we maintained accuracy and security throughout the process and with Goodwin’s help we achieved a successful move with minimal disruption to our clients.”

Robert Goodwin and Darren Gilbert of Britannia Goodwins oversaw the move, however Robert said that once the removal team got into their stride they new what to do and got on with the task in hand.

Britannia Goodwins support Stafford GP cycling event

July 2011

Britannia Goodwins of Stafford were recently involved in a prestigious local cycling event. The Stafford Grand Prix was held on Wednesday 29th June and is one of 6 Elite Circuit races to be held in the UK. Last year’s winner was none other than Olympic Gold Medalist Ed Clancy who returned to defend his title this year.

In spite of many top UK cyclists being involved in the Tour de France, the field at the Stafford GP still contained many of the UK’s elite cyclists attempting to boost their chances of reaching the team for London 2012. Apart from the elite race, there were also additional categories including a youth race showcasing stars of the future.

The race began in Market Square in the town centre and was well attended by locals and members of the cycling fraternity. The event was covered by Sky Sports as part of their overall coverage of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series.

Britannia Goodwins were delighted to be involved and as the pictures show, supported the event with some advertising and promotional materials.

Britannia Goodwins have been proud members of the Britannia Movers Group of companies for over a decade.
