Britannia Sandersteads sets a new standard May 2012 Britannia have just been re-inspected for their BS EN 12522 (Domestic Removals) and also their BS EN 8522 (Commercial Removals) accreditations, which they passed with flying colours! At the same time they opted to apply for two new standards, BS EN 14873 (Storage of Furniture & Personal Effects) which Britannia Sandersteads passed, and the all new BS 8564 (International Moving), which they have also passed. They are the first Britannia member to achieve this standard and are now the third mover in the whole of the UK to have this. Each of these Quality Standards are controlled and closely monitored by the BAR (British Association of Removers) and these two new accreditations are the first and only recognised quality standards specifically aimed at furniture removals and storage for the benefit of the private individual. |

Sandersteads celebrates Britannia Award win April 2012 Britannia Sandersteads scooped two prestigious awards at the recent Britannia Conference in Newcastle. The South London office of the Britannia Group not only won the Top Shipper award, but also won the Quality award for Service Excellence on UK Corporate work. When asked how he felt having won the two awards, Stuart Almandras had the following to say: “ As a competitive person and a pro-active company winning and awards mean a lot , It was no big surprise to be awarded with the cup for top shipper as we had worked hard to achieve this and the shipping figures had already been published, It has taken us 16 years of effort to win it so no quick fix ! I must however say that I was caught cold with the Quality award, Yes I felt we were in the mix to win it but I know there is always stiff competition from other members, 4 wins in 7 years for Sandersteads makes me feel good and drives me on to try again for next year but I also know others will be doing the same, Personally I think the Quality award is the top accolade any company can win and I thank my team for all the efforts they made for the year to deliver this to Sandersteads! – makes me feel very proud”. Congratulations to Sandersteads from all at Britannia. |

New hi-tech security for Britannia Sandersteads April 2012 State of the art CCTV has now been installed at Sandersteads - 8 external Cameras and 8 internal Cameras and remote recording hard drive have just been installed for customer and company peace of mind and also to assist with any Health & Safety issues should accidents happen on site. The managers of Britannia Sandersteads can login remotely 24/7 to check and if they really want they can have email or text messaging set up to alert of any issues / movement - but based on the new location in the rural woodland it was felt that the phones would be bleeping all night with the wildlife walking about ! Britannia Sandersteads are also planning on being able to offer prospective storage clients, who we strongly advise to call and inspect our storage depot and or any warehouse they plan on storing goods in, the chance to login and inspect the premises via the cameras if they don’t have the time for a physical inspection! |

Britannia Sandersteads move home December 2011 When Britannia Sandersteads moved to their current depot 16 years ago they always knew the Landlord planned to develop the site, but due to the size of the development and the road infrastructure the planning needed to go before the European Commission! Five Landlords later and its now only just been agreed that the whole site will be 90% affordable housing with a huge push to make Hackbridge the greenest community in the UK. Based on the above the team at Sandersteads decided to look for new premises and felt the economic climate would assist with more warehouse’s available and cheaper rents. Croydon and surrounding areas never matched up with an ideal depot for warehouse, office, yard space and good access for large trucks so they looked a little further out and found the ideal location just 800 meters from Junction 6 of the M25. The site offered great motorway links but is only 15 minutes away from Croydon and is now located outside the London Low Emissions Zone (LEZ). The new depot is located in an old Chalk Quarry in the middle of the woods at the end of a secluded residential road and was originally an old Saw Mill. It comprises 3 large adjoining warehouses, a small extension and another stand alone warehouse and a self contained stand alone all glass circular office building that could resemble something from Thunderbirds! Sandersteads have increased in size from current 24,000 ft2 to the new depot that is 37,000ft2. This will be another big step forward as a company and a real challenge to fill the extra space but both management and manual staff are all very excited about the new depot and the challenges it brings. |

Britannia Sandersteads 'burn the midnight oil' all for the love of local heritage June 2011 Britannia Sandersteads helped transport fascinating art and artefacts for the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As they have donated hundreds of items from the former Royal Earlswood Hospital in Redhill to a new museum at the Downs Syndrome Association's Headquarters near Teddington, Middlesex. Since the closure of Royal Earlswood in 1997 a few of the most important items have been on display at the Belfry Shopping Centre in Redhill, while the Royal Earlswood Museum Committee and Surrey Heritage have searched for a permanent home for the entire museum. Sanderstead's removal crew had to wait until the Belfry Shopping Centre closed for the night, before they could undertake the delicate task of relocating precious artefacts, including important pieces of work by James Henry Pullen (1835 – 1916), known in his day as the Idiot Genius of the Earlswood Asylum. The photo on the right shows the removal crew transporting the intricate model of the SS Great Eastern (Brunel's Iron Sailing Steam Ship) and Freda Knight, Curator and Chairman of the Royal Earlswood Museum Committee. The move went to plan perfectly and the artifacts have all been settled into their new positions for visitors to enjoy in the new exhibition once it's opened at The Langdon Down Centre. Freda Knight said, “John Burleigh, the REM Committee's Conservator, and I went over to LDC by train on Tuesday, and arrived at 11am, just as the crew were unloading the last few pieces. Please give our thanks to the lads for a tricky job done well. Everything arrived safely. Again many many thanks for a professional job.” |

April 2011 After 15 years of unblemished and unbroken service Senior Foreman & European Road Train Driver John Hannigan has been rewarded for his efforts. To commemorate the event, Stuart Almandras, a Director at Croydon based Britannia Sandersteads, one of the area’s largest and most acclaimed UK & International Removals & Storage companies, presented John with a quality Swiss time piece.
