Living in Croatia
While Croatia has been a famous destination for tourists for decades as it offers a unique combination of a Mediterranean Coastal Region with a coastline that is over 1000 km, stunning historical sites and cheap holidays, it is also an exciting expat destination. Zagreb is the commercial, political and cultural centre, and is a truly modern capital, with numerous museums and art galleries, baroque architecture and a uniquely European atmosphere. On the Adriatic Coast, with cities like Dubrovnik, Split and over 1000 islands, you'll have the chance to explore picturesque beaches, untouched landscapes and ancient Roman architecture.
Croatia is located in Central and Southeastern Europe, and borders Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, and the Adriatic Sea among others. Croats originally occupied the territory in the 7th century, and after World War II, Croatia became a founding member of Yugoslavia, a socialist state. Croatia finally became a sovereign state in 1991 and has a high-income developing market economy nowadays. Croatia is also a member of the United Nations, the NATO, and the World Trade Organization. The country can boast a diverse geography, comprising plains, densely wooded mountains, rocky coastlines and numerous Adriatic islands.
Although the economy might not be as developed as in Western Europe, and income levels are lower, Croatia is a stunning and exciting location that fuses Central Europe with the Mediterranean and the ancient, and where you'll never run out of places to visit. Whether you are looking for a more relaxed life, new business opportunities or just want to explore a different culture, Croatia is an amazing destination.
