Importing Personal Effects to PolandIf you are moving your personal effects from within the EU, importation will be free of duty, provided that you have owned your belongings for at least six months. Documentation required should be a copy of your passport, and a detailed inventory in Polish and English. If you are moving to Poland from outside the EU then you will also need a completed Polish customs form and a certificate obtained from the Polish Consulate in the origin country. - As Poland is a member of the EU, you won't need any special permit to enter Poland from within the EU. Stays beyond three months will require the obtainment of a residence permit.
- If you are moving to Poland with your children, you'll also have to consider education opportunities. There are a number of international schools offering the International Baccalaureate for example. If you are planning to stay in Poland permanently, you should also consider learning the language and enrolling your children in a Polish state school.
- Poland had high unemployment rates just a few years ago, but the employment situation is nowadays getting much better. There are also a number of international corporations and businesses based in Poland, and you could always teach English. It shouldn't be too hard to find employment, but you will need to learn at least a few words in Polish.
