Assisting with cycling weekends
Britannia Appleyards were proud to assist with one of the most prestigious cycling weekends in East Yorkshire which took place in August 2008. The event having been washed out in 2007 due to local floods, was held from 1st to 3rd August 2008 and was organised by Hull Thursday rc who are currently celebrating their centenary year. The spectators were entertained with three days of exciting riding which consisted of the National Criterium Championships on the Friday evening – a impressive race around Beverley town centre. The Big G – Grimpeurs des Wolds Cyclosportive challenge took place on 2nd August where over 200 riders started in Beverley for either a 100km or 100 mile routes through the spectacular countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds. The weekend culminated with the East Yorkshire Classic Premier Calendar Elite Race. The popular East Yorkshire Classic returned on Sunday 3rd August after 2 years when it was run as the National Championship Road race. Starting from New walk in Beverley at 10.00 the race headed into the tough rolling terrain of the Yorkshire Wolds and returning to Beverley for 23/4 laps of the finishing circuit giving a total race distance of 98 miles.

A Britannia van was based at the centre of each event. The vehicle provided was invaluable in its help in moving and housing, equipment and sponsorship/direction signage for each of the days activities.

Assisting With The Floods
Who would have thought that 24 hours of rainfall in June 2007 would have had such an effect on a city. Since that day Britannia Appleayrds have been helping with relocating furniture and effects from flooded homes.

Working closely with loss adjusters, insurers and building contractors Britannia has been able to remove, store and return furniture and effects from hundreds of homes.

New High Bay Racking
In order to meet the ever growing demand in the region for document storage Britannia Appleyards has recently invested £90,000 in a new high bay racking project. This initial phase of racking will be capable of holding over 18,000 bankers boxes.

In order to track the many thousands of files a bar coding system is also being introduced into the company.
