Leicester Removals

Leicester is an East Midlands city with a lot to offer. After a major facelift and lots of redevelopment, it is now a popular place for shopping and leisure. It has a strong student population due to the two highly ranked universities gracing the city, but this should not put families and the older generations off as there are plenty of quiet residential areas and family-friendly activities.

Days Out in Leicester

By far one of the most popular Saturday endeavours of many in Leicester is a spot of shopping. Highcross is the largest shopping centre and is crammed full of big brand names, restaurants, and even a multi-plex cinema. Haymarket Shopping Centre and Leicester Market are home to independent retailers, boutiques and coffee shops.

A unique experience, Leicester’s National Space Centre is home to the UK’s largest domed planetarium. Visitors can get up close and personal with rockets, space suits and meteorites. The vast rocket tower also houses the Apollo Lunar Lander and chunks of real moon rock.

Leicester is famed as the resting place of Richard III, with his remains laid to rest in Leicester Cathedral after being excavated from a local car park. The cathedral is an incredible place to explore and other historical attractions include Belgrave Hall and gardens, Abbey Pumping Station and Guildhall.

Transport Links Leicester

Leicester is one of the best-connected cities in the UK. The M1 is just west of the city and provides direct access to London in the south and Sheffield and Leeds in the north. The M1 also provides links to other important roads such as the M40, M6 and A1, for routes east and west.

Leicester railway station is located in the city centre and services are operated by East Midlands Trains and CrossCountry. Trains travel to the likes of London St Pancras, Nottingham, Sheffield and Birmingham.

Frequent business flyers will also benefit from being just a 30-minute drive from East Midlands Airport. Flights from the airport are both national and European, as well as a few long-haul flights.
