Livingston is served by two railway stations, Livingston North and Livingston South. From the north station, there are eight trains departing the station each hour. Four services run to Edinburgh Park, taking 11 minutes, and four to Glasgow Queen Street (46 minutes) and on to Helensburgh Central or Milngavie.
From Livingston South, there is one service per hour from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh Waverley – stopping at Livingston South. There is also a semi fast service that runs on the same route. There is limited Sunday service at this station on Sundays, with only six trains each way per day.
A drive along the M8 will get commuters to Edinburgh in 30 minutes in perfect traffic, it is not advised during peak hours.
