Oxfordshire House Removals

Popular with those who work in London due to its fantastic transport connections and central location, Oxfordshire is one of the most desirable counties to live in throughout the UK. This is also, in part, due to its excellent educational standards and unique culture.

Despite being a relatively large county, Oxfordshire is very rural and has low population levels. In fact, 24% of the county’s residents live in the city of Oxford.

Where to Live in Oxfordshire

Tourists and residents alike both love Oxfordshire. There are some fantastic places to live that also boast great historical and cultural attractions. The county is rich with character and those who move to Oxfordshire, tend to call it home forever.

Oxford

The city of Oxford is the epicentre of Oxfordshire and home to the prestigious Oxford University. The city is compact and mostly pedestrianised, and those who live there often see professors and students flitting between the 30 colleges that make up the university on bicycles. Exploring the city on foot is extremely easy, and allows residents and visitors alike to take in the Carfax Tower, Oxford Botanic Garden, and the Cornmarket.

Henley-on-Thames

Located on the River Thames, in the south of Oxfordshire, is Henley-on-Thames. The town is synonymous with the Henley Royal Regatta, which is a rowing event that takes place every July, and attracts some of the world’s best rowers. The historic town has a number of period structures, including the inspiring church, town hall, and market square.

Not far from Henley is the market town of Abingdon-on-Thames. A popular attraction in Abingdon is the interesting Abingdon Hall Museum which is located in a historic Grade I listed 17th century building and displays an array of artefacts and relics that paint a picture of Oxfordshire’s past.

It is a designer outlet where savvy shoppers can indulge in designer brands at discounted prices. In Bicester town itself, there are a number of independent and specialist shops, with the town retaining traditions of times gone by with Friday and farmer’s markets.

Banbury

Like many of the locations in Oxfordshire, Banbury is a market town to the north of the county. Castle Quay is a popular shopping centre, and many also enjoy a visit to Banbury Museum. The museum has a plethora of collections, artefacts, and displays that tell the tale of Banbury’s history. Tooley’s Boatyard dates back to the 18th century and offers guided tours.
