Moving to Chichester

Chichester is notorious for being one of the most expensive locations to live in the South of England, but there are some more affordable properties available outside of the city centre. Four bedroom detached homes, ideal for families, start at £330,000. With a budget of over £700,000, buyers can get their hands on large period properties. Three and four bed semi detached homes are upwards of £225,000 and traditional two-bed terraces start at £200,000. Flats hover around £150,000.

If you would prefer to rent in Chichester, look to a have a minimum budget of £650 pcm for a one bedroom flat, or £750 pcm for two bedrooms. Small terraces and cottages start at £895 pcm and three bed semis vary between £950 pcm and £1350 pcm. Large detached homes, with four or more bedrooms, are upwards of £1500 pcm.

The most popular roads within the city walls are North, East, South and West Pallant. They are close to the shops and restaurants of Chichester but remain surprisingly quiet.

A mile north of the city centre are The Avenue and The Drive. Properties here range between £850,000 and £1.2 million. Many doctors and surgeons who work at St Richard’s hospital call these areas home.

Schools in Chichester

There are countless primary schools in Chichester, but some shine more than others. West Dean CofE Primary, Aldingbourne CofE Primary, and Jessie Younghusband Primary, were all ranked ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in their latest reports.

Similarly, there are some exceptional secondary schools in Chichester. Bishop Luffa CofE, St Anthony’s School, and Chichester High School for Girls are all deemed ‘outstanding’.

Chichester Transport Links

The majority of Chichester’s local and regional buses are run by Stagecoach South East. The bus station is located on South Street, opposite the train station.

Chichester railway station is formed of two platforms and the majority of trains operating are run by Southern. Services to London Victoria (1 hour 30 mins) travel via Gatwick Airport (56 mins), Portsmouth (28 mins), Southampton (54 mins), and Littlehampton (17 mins). There are also local trains to Barnham (8 mins), Havant (13 mins), and Fishbourne (3 mins), as well as longer distance trains to Wales and the West Country.
