Families considering a move to Portsmouth will be pleased to know that there are a number of residential areas outside of the town centre. With new builds and period properties, there is something to suit all tastes and budgets. Detached homes, of family size, are upwards of £325,000, with four bedrooms over the £400,000 mark. Shopping in Portsmouth

Gunwharf is easily accessible via ferry, bus, or train (all just five minutes’ walk away). Alternatively, there is ample 24-hour parking. Designer outlet stores at Gunwharf Quays include Jack Wills, GAP, Michael Kors, UGG, ad Links of London. Three bed semis vary between £140,000 and £550,000.
If you would prefer to mooch around the city centre, Commercial Road is the main shopping street, as is the Cascades Shopping Centre. The whole area is pedestrianised and home to big brand favourites such as Topshop, Primark, Debenhams, and Boots.
If you require something a little quirkier, pop down the road to bohemian Southsea which is full of independent stores, vintage clothing shops, and individual cafes.
Transport Links Portsmouth
Portsmouth is an island city which means that, due to limited bridges, traffic can become a nightmare. However, once you are near the M27 or M3, it is often plain sailing.
Commuters will be happy to know that Portsmouth has two railway stations; Portsmouth and Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour. There are regular trains to London Waterloo and Southampton every hour.
Due to its coastal location, ferries and catamarans leave Portsmouth to the like of the Isle of Wight, France, the Channel Islands, and Bilbao.
