About Whitchurch

Whitchurch is the oldest inhabited settlement in Shropshire and this is echoed in the Roman layout of the market town. Residents of Whitchurch say it is a lovely place to live and that the town has a great community spirit. As well as a popular high-street, Whitchurch also boasts many fantastic schools, a Civic Centre with a community hub and a well-equipped leisure centre.

The White House School is an independent primary school on the outskirts of Whitchurch.

There is just one secondary school in Whitchurch, Sir John Talbot Technology College. It received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted in its latest inspection. Smallbrook Lodge is an independent co-educational school for pupils aged 11 to 19 and it is ‘good with outstanding features’.

Transport Links Whitchurch

Whitchurch sits on a web of A roads, providing great access to larger towns and cities, as well as the M6. Shrewsbury, Stoke-on-Trent and Chester are all under a 45-minute drive away in good traffic. Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham can be reached in just over 1 hour via car.

Whitchurch railway station has two platforms and services can seem a little limited. The station is located on the stopping service between Shrewsbury and Crewe and certain longer distance trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff. Sunday services are somewhat infrequent and irregular.
