Britannia Movers is continuing to monitor the advice provided by the BAR and the Government regarding the coronavirus pandemic. The current guidance makes it clear that household removals are still permitted providing the correct safety measures are followed by customers and Britannia staff. Below we have posted various updates and guides that we feel will be helpful to our customers when planning and arranging their moves. The safety of our staff and customers is still the most important consideration, and we are continuing to work and develop ways to deliver our services in a secure and convenient manner.

Britannia Movers – Coronavirus procedures for moving day

Whether you’ve booked your move with Britannia or are purely at a planning stage, please watch this short instructional video which explains some of the important new measures that we’ve put in place to protect our customers and crew on moving day. It’s of paramount importance that we work together to reduce risk and ensure a comfortable trouble-free moving experience for all.

Coronavirus Moving Guide | Moving House During COVID-19 | Britannia Movers

Our removal services are changing. In response to government guidelines and advice from the British Association of removers (BAR), we have adopted some new procedures safeguarding all our customers and our crew. Don’t worry though the quality and efficiency of our service to customers will be as good as ever.

If you have booked Britannia to do your move, you will see the measures we have introduced. Our crew members will arrive at your door, introduce themselves to you while wearing face coverings and at a 1meter plus distance. To help maintain these distances, it’s ideal for only one household member to be present on the day of your move. If this isn’t possible, the crew will ask you to remain in one location while we pack and load the rest of your property. Once completed, you can move to another suitable room while we polish off the rest. Weather permitting and where possible, sitting in the garden while the crew are working will be enormously helpful, especially if you have a pet. This will ensure social distancing and help speed up the removals process. You might even catch a few rays of sunshine.

Moving large pieces of furniture is physically demanding especially in warm weather. Crew members may remove their face coverings while working to aid breathing, though this doesn’t mean safety measures are relaxed. You can help by opening windows and doors for better ventilation before the crew arrive.

To allow our crew to regularly wash their hands, we will ask you to provide a toilet and wash basin for the crew’s sole use during the removal. Our crew will come prepared with their own mugs and refreshments, so all though it’s appreciated, please don’t feel obliged to offer anything.

As usual we will walk around both the property you are leaving and the property to which delivery has been made to ensure satisfaction. We will need to social distance while this is being done. Normally you would sign the paperwork to confirm everything is to your satisfaction, but to keep to our clinical procedures a crew member will ask you to verbally confirm everything, and check that you are happy for them to sign on your behalf. Don’t worry a copy will be emailed or posted to you for your records.

These are challenging times, moving home can be stressful enough, however you can rely on Britannia to deliver the warm, friendly and professional service, for which we are well known.

If you have any questions, then please pick up the phone, we are here to help and reassure you that your move is in safe hands.

Britannia Movers Survey App – Working to keep you safe

In these difficult times Britannia has developed a video survey app to allow customers and staff to operate a virtual pre-move survey, avoiding the necessity for a home visit for those nervous about this option. The app is simple to use and can be downloaded from either the Apple iTunes app store or Google Play for Android phones. To learn more and how to contact your local Britannia office, just watch this short video which should answer all your questions and give you a feel for the many benefits of our new app.
