Britannia Squab paddled their way to victory for the second consecutive year in the recent Warwick Dragon Boat Festival (22 May) and with it, the ‘champion’ removals team from Warwickshire also raised valuable funds for charity.
With a target of raising £3000 for Alzheimer’s Society, the Britannia ‘Squab Heroes’ team pulled out all the stops in an exciting and competitive finale.
“We are delighted to win the Dragon Boat title for the second time so a big well done to the team. It generates great team spirit and while being a lot of fun, helps to raise funds for good causes. Alzheimer’s Society is our nominated charity for 2011 and we are still receiving donations, which is great news. Thank you to everyone who has supported us,” says Emlyn Evans of Britannia Squab Group.
Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common cause of dementia, of which some 750,000 people are suffering in the UK alone.
