Britannia Movers International – update on our services
It’s been a while since Britannia’s last update to customers on the 26th March so we thought we’d post a further bulletin to let you know how things have been progressing.
Britannia Movers continue to respect the advice provided by the Government and our trade body the BAR (British Association of Removers). While there has been conjecture about the wording of Government guidance on moving house, the vast majority of removal companies in the UK have interpreted the public health guidelines as making removals implausible while continuing to adopt social distancing and other key principles. Britannia has been consistent since the outset that we want to play our part in slowing the spread of the virus and thereby easing pressure on the NHS and other key worker areas.
Having taken the difficult decision to close our offices and cease operations during the week commencing the 23rd March, we appreciate the impact this had on our customers as well as our own businesses around the UK. We’ve been overwhelmed though with the messages of support and fellowship from our customers who have almost universally understood and agreed with our stance. Thank you to all of you for your loyalty and support during such a difficult time.
In the meantime, we are obviously adopting all guidelines with staff either furloughed or working from home. We are looking at ways that we can support the overall effort ourselves, by helping elderly and high dependency members of the public on a local level where we can. There are also shipments coming into our head office warehouse which left port from all over the world after the lockdown was applied and where shipping lines and hauliers are delivering into our warehouse for onward delivery to customers once we are able. A small number of warehouse staff are fielding these deliveries and adopting all protocols.
Britannia are monitoring developments closely and are in contact with the Government via our trade body the BAR, who are doing an excellent job of lobbying on the moving industry’s behalf. The situation is being regularly reviewed and once we have confirmation that may recommence operations, we will be in touch with our customers via all channels available.
For the time being, we will continue to adopt the PHE guidance and encourage all others to do the same.
All the best to one and all, stay well and healthy.
