Why move to Argyll and Bute?

Argyll and Bute is a region in east Scotland known for its beautiful and diverse landscape, including golden sandy beaches, forests, and open Scottish countryside. It is one of the largest and most sparsely populated areas in Scotland and includes 23 inhabited islands.

The region has a long history of producing whisky, with over twenty distilleries in the area that produce whiskey and other spirits, such as gin and vodka.

There are many castles across the region, such as Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe, and Castle Stalker, a keep on Loch Laich. Ben Cruachan is the highest mountain in the region, rising to 1,126 metres and Ballochroy is a megalithic site in Kintyre consisting of three vertical stones.

Where to move in Argyll and Bute?

The most populated island is Bute, with around 6,500 inhabitants. It has been named one of the best places to live in Scotland, with a rich history and plenty of opportunity to enjoy outside activities.

Helensburgh is another popular town in Argyll and Bute. Located on the coast, it also has access to Loch Lomond and Gare Loch, so there’s plenty of activities for water-lovers. It’s known as one of Scotland’s wealthiest towns and property prices will often reflect this.

The Kintyre Peninsula is another popular place although it’s more cut-off than some other towns in Argyll and Bute. This can be perfect for those looking for a quieter way of life. Properties here can be on the cheaper side and residents enjoy sandy beaches and miles of heather.
