Yes, normal recommendations are that customers should not pack goods such as money, jewellery, passports, watches or mobile phones and portable computer devices. These should be carried with the customer at all times. There are also recommendations not to include items such as potentially dangerous, damaging or explosive items, goods like to encourage vermin or other pests, perishable items, animals, birds, fish, reptiles or plants, goods requiring special licence or government permissions. Depending how large the load is, Groupage shipping can often provide the most economical means of overseas shipping, however be aware that this does potentially entail a longer transit time for your goods.

Yes, however it’s best to check what regulations apply in your destination country. There are certain destinations where specific items of furniture require a certificate prior to importation.

Transit times vary depending on which country you are moving to. Generally speaking a sole use container is the fastest sea freight option available, while a groupage option will naturally take longer, particularly to less common destinations. Air Freight is the fastest method of moving goods, but be aware it’s also the most expensive and will limit the volume of goods you are able to take.

A sole use container will normally take 6 to 8 weeks door to door, while a groupage consignment can take from 9 to 14 weeks. Although be aware of potential disruption to schedules and delays caused by the current pandemic.

For example there are natural prohibitions on importing alcohol into some Middle Eastern countries, while other countries have strict guidelines on bringing household pets into the country.
