Is Harlow a nice place to live?

Located in west Essex, close to the Hertfordshire border, Harlow is a popular town that offers a mix of urban convenience and green, open spaces. As one of the UK’s original new towns, it was designed with community living in mind, which is reflected in its layout and access to parks and green spaces. Areas such as Old Harlow provide a more traditional village feel, with characterful streets, independent shops, and a slower pace of life, whilst other parts of the town have a more modern atmosphere shaped by recent development.

Property in Harlow is varied, which makes it appealing to a broad range of buyers and renters. You’ll find everything from mid-century homes built during the town’s early expansion to newer housing developments designed for contemporary living. There are also pockets of period properties, particularly around Old Harlow, which attract those looking for more character. Compared to many nearby towns, Harlow can offer better value for money, meaning it can be an attractive option for first-time buyers, families, and those looking to upsize without stretching their budget too far.
