Australia has recently suffered from horrendous bushfires that erupted over the country, resulting in a national emergency. Wildlife was lost, as were lives. Australia has since been able to extinguish and control the bushfires, but the devastation of the tragic events has caused damage all over the country. Here we outline why Australia is a beautiful place to move to, how you can help with the bushfires and the things to consider since the bushfires.

Why Australia?

Australia has a lot to offer for many people. Due to the low population, plenty of fresh air and low pollution levels and naturally beautiful landscapes, Australia offers a high-quality of life. Australians are known for their laid-back lifestyle, with family and relaxation time considered as very important around the nation.

Education is a top priority in Australia, with the fantastic higher education system and numerous reputable universities and schools. The primary and secondary schools in Australia are free. Families will love Australia with the education system, work-life balance, and work opportunities.

We have to mention the beautiful scenery and climate. Australia’s climate is mostly pleasant with mild winters and warm summers. However, in recent times the bushfires have taken place due to drought and hot weather. With low air pollution, Australia has a healthy environment for residents and tourists alike. Moving to Australia has got the thumbs up from Britannia Movers International.

Bushfires – The Facts

The devastating bushfires began with various serious uncontrolled fires in June 2019. These bushfires peaked in December 2019 to January 2020 – but they have since been controlled and/or extinguished.

Bushfires are not uncommon in Australia – native Australians have used fire as a land management tool for a long time, and it continues to be used to clear land for agricultural purposes and to protect households from intense, uncontrolled fires.

The places in Australia that were affected by the bushfires were New South Wales, Victoria and Southern Australia. New South Wales and Victoria were the most affected areas. New South Wales bushfires affected more than five million hectares and destroyed more than 2000 homes.

The fires killed at least 33 people, including firemen, and had a devastating effect across Australia with bush, forest and parks being burned. The bushfires ignited amid a record-breaking heat-wave, some started by lightning, some by human actions but the climate condition was the fuel for the fires to grow and spread.
