Sport in Eastleigh

Eastleigh F.C. are the town’s sole senior football team playing in the Conference Premier as well as the FA Cup and the FA Trophy. The team play at Ten Acres and their home colour is blue, whilst away is red.

Sport is very important in Eastleigh. Eastleigh Rugby Football club play from what is referred to locally as ‘the Hub’. They currently have four senior sides, colts and younger player development. Their 1st XV currently play in the London 3 South West. The Hurricanes are a team for young adults with learning difficulties.

For the ladies, Eastleigh Hockey club has two teams competing in the Hampshire Women’s League. There is also an Eastleigh Running Club that is very popular.

Transport Links Eastleigh

Located slap bang next to the M3, Eastleigh is 13 minutes’ drive from Southampton, 24 from Portsmouth and 15 to Winchester. Being located on this motorway means getting to London is relatively straight forward and takes 1 hour 30 minutes in good traffic.

The majority of train services from Eastleigh railway station are run by South West Trains. There are 2 trains to London Waterloo per hour, with journey time taking 1 hour 20 minutes. There are also services to Poole. Salisbury, Portsmouth Harbour and Romsey.

Southern also operate one daily service Monday to Saturday in the afternoon to Brighton. There is also one service from Brighton in the late afternoon which then runs to Southampton Central after being reversed. On Saturdays, there are seven departures from Eastleigh to Southampton Central, as well as the daily Brighton service.
