The Team – Britannia Bennetts

Alan Bennett

I started Bennetts of Malvern in 1987 and the family run company has grown steadily, relocating to the Enigma Business Park in Malvern in 2004. I am hands on in the day to day running of the business, surveying client moves and project managing large moves such as ‘Madresfield Court’. Over the last couple of years my main interest – restoring a 1950’s Dennis Paxman removal lorry, has taken up many weekends but my plan is to undertake charity work using this vehicle so it is a very worthwhile hobby. I enjoy cycling and enter 100 km challenges amongst other events, still finding time to spend with our 3 children.

Judith Bennett

I joined the family business in 1998 after a successful career as a senior business manager for BUPA and Nuffield, initially computerising the business, setting up e-commerce and a website and undertaking most of the client surveying. Since the growth of the company I manage finance, marketing and customer services although I am always happy to survey a previous client. I am a member of the Board of Directors for Britannia Movers International and enjoy being involved in the company strategy. In my spare time I enjoy modern dance, running and spending time with our children, not forgetting my flock of Welsh mountain sheep.

Wendy Reed – Office Manager

I joined the Company in 2006 as an Administration Assistant and became Office Manager in 2008. I enjoy the everyday challenges as no two customers are alike and our diary can alter hugely within an hour. Outside work I enjoy fine dining; walking our family dog; home decorating; local history 19th/ 20th century which I have recently studied to MA level.

Lesley Mills – Office Administration

I have worked part-time at Bennetts in office administration for 6 years and I really enjoy dealing with customers whether by telephone or e-mail. I love the buzz when bookings change and it’s really busy in the office. At home I enjoy reading and doing crosswords; painting by water colour; gardening; walking; theatre and spending time with my family.

Liam Weaver

I starting working at Bennetts during my university holidays and when a position came up as trainee Operations Manager I joined the company full time. I am enjoying learning all aspects of a busy removals office and find surveying client properties, particularly international moves very interesting. Out of work I enjoy running; reading; golf; foreign travel; cars – anything ‘Honda’; IT – anything ‘Apple’; target shooting (rifle) and rugby.

Claire Badger

I joined Britannia Bennetts in a new role as Accounts Administrator in 2010 and I enjoy not only my accounts role but also getting involved in day to day customer related matters such as enquiries and bookings. Outside work I am a keen horse rider and enjoy eventing. I also help out on the family farm with lambing and enjoy dining out and spending time with my husband and baby son.

Richard Birchley

I have been a 7.5 tonne driver with Bennetts for 7 years progressing to obtain my class 2 licence. I enjoy the variety of customers and locations involved in my role and you never know where you will be from week to week. Outside work I like playing sport particularly cricket and football, also watching sport and I enjoy eating out with my wife and spending time with her and my twin boys.

Nick Hayes-Wilson

I joined Bennetts as an HGV driver in 2007 and enjoy the customer service combined with the driving as my previous job involved a great deal of client contact so I feel it is one of my strengths. I like motorbikes and recently passed test so I enjoy helping as a volunteer at a local bike club helping others work towards their bike tests. I have 3 children, a girl and two boys so they keep me busy when not at work and I enjoy holidays and football.

Nigel Gilks

I like motorbikes and cars (especially modifying my VW Golf VR6) and enjoy going to the gym. Although it’s not exactly a hobby I’m enjoying training for my Class 2 HGV as I started as a Porter with Britannia Bennetts 8 years ago and have progressed through export packing training, 3.5 tonne driving and I hope to progress further in my role.

Paul Bass

I have been a Driver at Bennetts for 13 years and Foreman for 10 years. I have always enjoyed the travelling aspect of the job and I like customized removal vehicles, particularly Scanias. One of my hobbies is collecting Scania memorabilia and I often attend Truck Shows. I enjoy listening to rock music and gardening.

Darrell Hooper

I am a Removal Porter at Britannia Bennetts and I hope to gain further experience packing and loading vehicles and to provide a supporting driving role. I enjoy travelling around the UK, my main interests being moto gp and old lorries and car restoration. I also like vintage motorbikes and often take holidays involving visiting vintage vehicle shows.

Alan Lidbetter

I am a Porter at Britannia Bennetts but have been gaining experience driving a 7.5 tonne removal vehicle and I would like to progress to taking my HGV. I enjoy taking holidays abroad; playing golf; walking; gardening and Skiing.
