For those continuing on after secondary school, South Devon College is located in the town and has 5 campuses. Attractions in Paignton
Undoubtedly the most popular attraction in the area is Paignton Zoo. The zoo has a collection of around 2,000 animals representing nearly 300 species. The zoo is split into different areas based upon habitats. Some of the areas loved most are the savannah, desert house, and tropical forest house.
Another one for families, Splashdown Waterpark is a hit. It is an outdoor water park with 8 water slides, a splash pool for youngsters, and a normal swimming pool. It also has all the commodities associated with a family attraction.
For those who prefer a more rural setting, Old Way Mansion and Compton Castle are both historic buildings set in beautiful lands. Victoria Park and the south west coast path covering Roundham Head are both excellent places for walking.
Transport Links Paignton
Paignton railway station is managed by Great Western Railway and is the terminus of the Rivera Line from Exeter. It is also an interchange station between National Rail services and the preserved Dartmouth Steam Railway. Most trains run to and from Exmouth but a few long distance services also include Paignton, with trains to London Paddington and Manchester Piccadilly. Trains to Paddington take just over 3 hours, and trains to Manchester Piccadilly take over 5 hours.
For those who prefer to drive, the M5, M4 and A303 are the main backbones taking people in and out of Paignton. There are also a number of local bus routes, covering the whole of Paignton. Buses from the town also cover surrounding towns and locations further a field.
