Farnham is a wonderful Georgian town, steeped in history, and located in the far west of Surrey. It was officially voted the Nicest Town in Surrey and is chocolate box pretty; all bow-fronted shops and greengrocers with stripy awnings.

Moving to Farnham

There are some beautiful properties in Farnham town centre, mostly Georgian town houses and half-timbered cottages. Many families move into the Victorian terraces next to Farnham Park, and large period semis and detacheds can be found on and off Frensham Road, Lower Bourne, Waverley Lane and Figrove Hill. Schools in Farnham

The most popular school in Farnham is the fantastically named St Polycarp’s CofE, which is ‘outstanding’ in the eyes of Ofsted. Highfield South Farnham, Waverley Abbey Junior, St Peter’s CofE and Rowledge CofE are all well-loved and ranked ‘good’ by Ofsted.

Farnham has two secondary schools, Farnham Heath End and Weydon. Farnham Heath End is ‘good’ and Weydon is ‘outstanding’.

There are three independent schools local to Farnham. Edgeborough and Barfield are both co-ed prep schools providing education for children aged between two and thirteen. One of the most well-known all-through independent schools in Surrey is Frensham Heights which is said to have the most impressively led art department in the country. The school is free-spirited and encourages creativity and development.

Transport Links Farnham

Guildford is just a 20-minute drive from Farnham, a simple journey along what is colloquially known as The Hogs Back. It is also 20 minutes’ drive to the M3, and 30 minutes to the M25.

Farnham has a small railway station with just two platforms and services are run by South West Trains. Direct destinations include Aldershot, Alton, Woking, Surbiton, Clapham Junction and London Waterloo. Services to London Waterloo run once an hour and take 1 hour 1 minute. Many often take a train to Woking (13 minutes) and get a connecting train to London from this station (28 minutes). To get to Guildford, commuters must change at Aldershot, this journey takes 27 minutes.
