Meet The GBS Team
David Atkin – Managing Director
David took over George Bernard Shaw in 2003. He wanted it to remain a family run business, so along with his wife Cynthia, they both continued to develop it and raise its profile, not just in the Tynedale area but across the North East. In 2008 they decided, in order to move forward, they would join the Britannia Family of removers, branching out to international removals, MOD removals and various corporate removals and relocations. The key to our success has been reliable and trustworthy staff who have stayed with us for a number of years.
Cynthia Atkin – Director
Cynthia is a Director of George Bernard Shaw. Although she continued her work within the health, service she supported David with staff recruitment. Both she and David have ensured that staff training and retention is key to the success of the business. Customers come back to us due to the consistency of staff and the professional service they receive.
Amy Pentland – Office Manager
Amy joined business in 2014. Daughter to Cynthia and David, they were keen to get her on board. She enjoys working with the small team ensuring that good customer service is a fundamental part of everyone’s role. Amy has grown in confidence over the years and has taken on more duties & responsibilities allowing David & Cynthia to slow down a little and take more of a back seat. As with all of our office staff she is happy to assist in all departments.
Lorna Chandler – Removals Co-ordinator
Lorna began working for George Bernard Shaw as a packer in 2005. When GBS joined Britannia, Lorna progressed to the office with hands on removal experience. She is now our Removals Co-ordinator and covers all international moves, corporate moves and anything Britannia based.
Stephen Smith – Operations Manager & Surveyor
Stephen began work at George Bernard Shaw in 2009 as a Warehouse Supervisor. Also assisting on Removals over the years, Stephen has progressed now to the full Operations Manager in charge of the crew, as well as our Surveyor. He is always happy to help out in any department.
