Moving to Great Park
Great Park is a new suburb of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is the largest housing development in the North East of England and is currently 15 years into a 30+ year building project. By 2030, it is set to have over 3,300 homes.
Great Park is also home to a handy Morrisons supermarket, as well as a pharmacy and a One Stop. The Great Park Community Centre has a large call for community events, plus tennis courts, football pitches, a netball court and a basketball court. Many groups and activities are run from the Community Centre, including Pilates, drama sessions, Girl Guides and Children’s Dance.
Schools in Great Park
Newcastle operates a three-tier education system, and Great Park has one first school, Brunton First School. The school received a Good rating from Ofsted at the latest inspection.
There are currently plans to open a middle school in the area, Great Park Academy. The school currently operates from a temporary location on the Gosforth Academy site until the new building at Great Park is completed. Great Park Academy has yet to receive an Ofsted rating. High School pupils typically feed into Gosforth Academy.
Transport Links Great Park
Newcastle Central Station is the closest national rail station. From here, there are regular services to London, Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh, and Plymouth. Great Park is also close to some Tyne and Wear Metro stations, providing quick access to Newcastle city centre and the surrounding areas.
Driving to the city centre takes around 15 minutes. Great Park is located on the A1 road, connecting the area to the north of Newcastle and into Scotland. Driving from Great Park to Whitley Bay takes around 25 minutes.
